Friday, August 31, 2012    Update 3 pm: Gulp Bait Shrimp catches a reported 5 pound Toad Fish by seasoned fishermen. WOW!     Bright sunny day as Kayakers head out to fish. Wednesday, August 29, 2012   No reports. Not many people down the past three days. Yesterday and today the sun came out for about 4 hours. During that sunny time we notice the yards and shrubby turning deep green as if it were happening right before our eyes. The past two weeks have been very wet. Friday, July 27, 2012   4:00 pm Update!!    8.50 lb Sheep Head was the heaviest of 25 caught off Carolina Beach Fishing Pier today by a very happy fisherman.   DC fisherman enjoyed his "Gulf Stream" adventures and catch.  He hopes to go again this week. Tuesday, July 17, 2012    New Jersey family arrived today with big appetite for North Carolina Spots and other fishes. We are hoping to hear back from them. Monday Night, July 16, 2012    Register Cross Roads, Rose Hill, NC: They are filming parts of "Iron Man III" in my "Pa Pa and Ma Ma's" county store! They are telling us there is snow on the roof and ground. Can't wait to see this on the big screen in 2013!

Monday, July 16, 2012    Spanish Mackerel are making their way to "Capital City" this morning. 80 plus dress pounds! This family, minus one, enjoyed the big blue sea. The younger mate passed out in the cozy cabin due to lack of solid earth under her feet.     Rain showers are on, then off, and now they are back on. Sunday, July 8, 2012    Update: Senior West Virginia Farmer reported they caught "Croaker after Croaker" last night. He and his family were fishing the surf in front of the Blue Marlin Apartments.  The day before,  the younger West Virginia Farmer caught 8, twelve to eighteen inch Sharks  plus a Croaker off the Fort Fisher Air Base Pier. This is the pier in the Cape Fear River and is open free to the public. (NC Fishing Licenses required for folks sixteen years or older.) Hot weather is baking many Kure Beach lawns. Stay tuned! Tuesday, July 4, 2012    Update: 2:15 pm. Our Beach has become packed with local folks from the county and across the state.    9:am  Smaller crowed than expected today, yet we are all enjoying our "Freedom"!    West Virginia Fisherman enjoys a second night of pier fishing. He is averaging 6 Gray Trout the past two nights. He using a 2 drop bottom fishing rig with # 2 sinker and size 6 Kahle "Wide Bin" Eagle Claw Fish hooks. Friday, June 30, 2012    Got Ice? Hot weather is back!    School teacher enjoys a few Croakers and Spot catches at Fort Fisher. After studying the fish charts in our shop, he determined the odd stripped fish in his catch was a Grunt.  He too got upset when I showed him today's junk mail "Back-to-School" ads. Thursday, June 28, 2012   No Fishing reports.      Where in the world has this year gone? Went to the post office box and  received a hand full of "Back to School" ads.   The weather Monday and Tuesday was ruff! Northeast winds blowing in cold air. Sunday, June 24, 2012    Flounder reports slowed down through the weekend. Croakers, Virginia Mullets and Red Drum reports were coming in from a few surf fishermen. The One-Armed-Bandits did good. Thursday, June 21, 2012    This week has seen some action. Several families have reported Flounder, Speckled Trout, Bluefish up to 18 inches long, Virginia Mullets and Skates. Small Sand Sharks are playing around.  Mud Minnows were number one with the Flounder. One-Armed-Bandits inspired a lot of fishermen. Flounder and Pompanos were caught by them. Friday, June 15, 2012    We have added and new line of bait!!!!!   Frozen Clams and One-Armed-Bandits. I gave an assortment of them to some of our guest. No bites on day one. Day two was a different story! 4 pound Flounder liked the One Armed Bandits. Pompano liked our Sand Flees, Mud Minnows were very popular with Flounder.  Stay tuned! Monday, June 11, 2012  6:00 am in front of the Blue Marlin Apartments, birds were having a feast on small bait fish. Several of the smaller birds were actually landing and sitting on top of the Big Brown Pelicans hoping to catch some of the leftovers. Stay tuned! Gas Price $3.27 and up!  

Tuesday, June 5, 2012   Big Game Fishermen from Charlotte enjoyed the great outdoors this past weekend. Using a Kayak and deep sea equipment they were able to catch a few four foot sharks from shore. These gentlemen were on the beach with their 4 x 4 past the North Carolina Aquarium. Stay tuned! Gas Price $3.35 and up! 

Thursday, May 31, 2012   Over the past few days, night time fishing has produced many pan sized Virginia Mullets . One fisherman reported his freezer is starting to fill up. Rain runoff from this week's tropical low are subsiding. From what we understand (Unofficial) Pender county is not having the one hour school delay on Friday.  Stay tuned! Gas Price $3.41 and up! 

Sunday, May 27, 2012    Today, clam seas have returned. Kure Beach Fire Department and Ocean Rescue were sent to fetch Jon boaters late last night. My guess is the bay waters got push back into the Cape Fear River due to yesterday's northeaster. Robin fish caught off Kure Pier. Mom, Dad and Sister proud of their youngest fishermen.  Stay tuned! Friday, May 11, 2012    Black Drum, Virginia Mullets and Spots are on the catch list this week. Sand fees and Shrimp are number one baits. Flounder fishermen are enjoying the mud minnows. Flounder really have taken a like-in to them. 6 or more boats are congregating off the old Center Pier in Carolina Beach. Perhaps they going after the same catches the school of Dolphins are after. Sunday, May 6, 2012    Last night, between 9:30 to 10:30pm, a loud thunderstorm blew threw. Yesterday Croakers and Bluefish were reported by several fishermen. Gentlemen from West Virginia came in sharing his adventures from back home. "Cat fishing using your hands and arms". This 160 pound fellow let a 58 pounder get a hold of his arm, way past his elbow. His son offered aid since his dad was underwater for more than a minute. The fish was firmly attached. Stay tuned.     Gas Price $3.58 and up!

Friday, April 27, 2012   Last night, we had a brief encounter with thunder, lightning and heavy rains. Storm lasted less than twenty minutes ending two days of high winds. Rowan county and other mid-state fishermen are here. They reported gas prices dropping 15 cents per gallon here and there. Stay tuned!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012    Boaters came by today. They did fantastic on "Gray Trout". Yesterday's rain showers were a big relief for us firefighters. Stay tuned. Gas prices $3.75 and up.

Easter Weekend 2012:     Very inspiring weekend. Kure Beach Motels and Lodging Establishments were occupied with hundred of families and friends.
